Environmental bodies
2021-2025
Repairing our link with the living.
In these sculptural pieces, I create environmental bodies that explore the interaction between humans and non-human living beings.
Organic, hybrid forms, with textures reminiscent of flesh, mineral, coral, plant or moss, reveal the physicality of our environment, like living, almost human organs.
I transcribe events that subconsciously influence me including :
– climatic phenomena that transform landscapes, destabilize ecosystems and force populations to move
– bodies, flesh that are wounded inside or outside.
Braided, knotted textiles come to repair those shreds of bodies, rubbles of nature, fragments like a transplant. They weave links to enable bodies, spaces to survive.
In these works, I express states between vitality and decline, between destruction and repair, between life and death, and reflect the restorative power of the relationship between living beings, inhabited places, and natural spaces.
Furthermore, in my creative process, the long time spent with the material contributes to the reconstruction of the living and to connect man to its environment.
I rebuild and repair the shreds of bodies, the rubble of nature, and the fragments of architecture to weave links between humans and non-humans.
I reflect the restorative power of the relationship between living beings, inhabited places, and natural spaces.
