States of nature
2019-2020
I address places, the imprint of time, ecology, and the connection between humans and their natural or built environment.
These paintings are like pulsations that reveal our world.
Bodies (builts, plants, minerals, humans, animals) are the structures of our society, its biological foundations, and they are currently dislocated, deconstructed, suffering. My works bear witness to their suffering, but also reflect on how to repair, heal them and thus weave links between humans and his environment.
On the canvas, I depict phantasmagorical landscapes, saturated with color, sometimes violent, illustrating climatic and societal tensions. I express states between vitality and decline, between destruction and reconstruction, between life and death, and reflect the restorative power of the relationship between living beings, inhabited places, and natural spaces.
I do not nourish myself with information or trends, but with what I feel physically, with the elements I observe in a specific place, on a daily basis, which infuse me and constitute my memories. Inspired by this porosity towards our surroundings, my creations are like the pulse of our society, societal vibrations.
I blur the boundaries between the architectural, the vegetal, the mineral, the organic and explore themes of memory, vestiges, ruins, fragments and the act of repair and grafting.
